both the pieces clearly reflect the concentration theme which is great. I especially like the charcoal sketch, whose rough, simplistic context is true in both modern and folk art. The second, watercolor piece is really skilled plus the colors get along well. The only things i would have liked to see differently would be the position of the subject, or maybe more of a value in the background rather than a solid black one. Other than that, or despite of that, they're really great.
Both your pieces are really good, especially your second one.I saw you draw this and its good that you changed the background to black because it makes the colorful smoke stand out. In addition, the red cloth that the man is wearing is amazing. Great pieces!
I thought both of the pieces were very interesting in their own ways. The first was rather attracting because it was was very different in style, suggesting feeling of somewhat ancient and traditional. At first sight, it gave me a feeling of simpleness. However, as I explored it more deeply I noticed the delicate use of smaller lines which gave the whole drawing more depth. Also the carefully made shadings supported the intricateness and efforts which stood behind the simple impression of the whole painting. About the second picture, I was really impressed with the adequate expressing of mixed colors of both dark and bright natures. Especially the prominent contrasts on the clothing were outstanding and struck me hard. Also I thought the detailed contrasts on the clothing and skins reminded me of reality, and the bright colors somewhat of dreamy, on the other hand. In the first piece, I could not find anything can possibly be corrected and on the second piece, only a few. Of those, I thought the contrast on the face in the second picture could be fixed. Personally I thought too bright of colors was used compared to the other adjacent parts. Also I found the contrasts on the helmet and the legs less convincing because of the ones on the clothing which was far more well depicted. Otherwise, I thought both the pictures were great in their own unique ways.
